Salad Time at Iloilo Grand Hotel

Our company chose again Iloilo Grand Hotel as the venue for this year’s awarding ceremony. Iloilo Grand Hotel is known for its tasty Chinese dishes. It is located in front of Iloilo Central Market along Iznart St.

I was at the hotel an hour before the program started in order to reserve a table for my friends. Another reason why I want to be ahead of everyone was to take photos of the food but the buffet table was still empty when I arrived. They placed the food when the program started and several minutes later the buffet table was already crowded with hungry attendees. The food looked deliciously photogenic but I don’t want to catch their attention with my flash. Instead of falling in line with them I went to the salad bar where I found a soul or two trying to pick what they want.

The banquet menu for that evening composed of honey glazed spareribs, steamed fish fillet with ham and mushroom, chicken with herbs, shanghai bits, assorted bread and butter, steamed rice and vegetable chowder soup and lychee with almond for dessert.

They have two choices of salad:

green garden salad – a combination of potato, cucumber, lettuce, slices of bell pepper, sweet corn kernel, bacon bits with ketchup mayonnaise dressing. You can make your own or simply take the bowl filled with salad.

fruity macaroni salad – it’s made of apple, fruit cocktail, sliced cucumber, pineapple, medium-sized elbow macaroni and Nestle cream.

Doc Beth and Doc Jim commented that they liked the fruity macaroni salad which I also considered the best among the two. I tasted them all and had one more serving of the fruity macaroni salad. We all agree this was the best part of the evening. :)
